About
FUM stands for First Unknown Myself. It reflects the journey of rediscovering who we are by reconnecting with our roots, family, parents, and ancestors.
FUM is a womenswear brand built on memory, form, and transformation. Rooted in the search for origins, it translates personal and family archives into garments through an artisanal, slow fashion approach. The brand draws from the founder’s Tuscan roots, family memories, and a visual language shaped by lived experience.
Process
At the core of FUM is a zero-waste philosophy and a way of creating that moves beyond traditional design methods. Rather than designing a garment on paper and constructing it afterwards, the designer begins with fabric: printing it, shaping it, and transforming it into clothing as if it were a sculpture moulded from a two-dimensional surface.
The prints are handmade through block printing, using bespoke blocks designed and built by the FUM team and inspired by the Indian tradition. Each motif becomes part of the garment’s construction—traced, built, and shaped into the piece itself. This unique draping system replaces traditional pattern making and allows every garment to emerge directly from the material.
Form
FUM explores clothing as a three-dimensional object. Textile prints become design elements and shapes, giving each piece a sense of depth, presence, and tension between what is seen and what is felt.
Values
The brand brings together experimentation, craftsmanship, and material awareness. Deadstock fabrics, upcycled elements, handmade processes, and cultural references are transformed into a refined language of modern womenswear.
